dis-jointed dedicated 2 my brothers & siSt⭐rs

“dis-JOINTED”

I’ve been holding this in for awhile now
I think that it's time for us to have a sit down
a face to face a conversation
there are some things that need discussing
first, I miss you
I apologize for not standing up for you
for trying to hold it down on my own
but since you started to neglect yourself
and place blame on everyone else but yourself
I didn't know what to do
but to distance myself from you
now I see that it was wrong of me
to leave you in your time of need
we are made for each other
complimentary colors,
mixtures of different hues
the plight we share
as each generation grows
is the same
but the foundation
has crumbled and is beginning to fade

so I ask that we pitch in
and get to work
it's gonna get messy
and some feelings may get hurt
individually
we have been carrying a great weight
and the longer we allow this burden
to sink us further
I fear that there will be a day
we will not be able to reach each other

so today I ask
that we stop the disrespect
stop running and stand your ground
that we acknowledge each other
and not tear our spirits down
not give into meaningless
degradation
but that we work on
rebuilding this foundation
find the trust for one another again
that we come together
and stand united, brotha to sistah
friend to friend
arm in arm we not surrender
or give into the fears
that have been plaguing
our communities, our psyches
for so many years
let not another stake be wedged
between us
let's defend this
space that we have
between us
by bridging the gap
so tight, and enforcing
this connection
with all our might

so my brotha, my sistah
do you forgive me?
as I have forgiven you ...

Just breathe...

The other night, I woke up to a thought: Money is not evil, nor is money the root of evil. Without people's worship of money, it would be worthless. It's just paper.

Often, ones place more value in the thought instead of the action of acquiring "things". If only I had this, I could get this, and then I would be ______. A cycle that doesn't end because one is always chasing the next "thing". First the thought of how to obtain it, then the action of getting it (with or without consequence).

We fight one and others for "things". We kill one and others for "things". We worship those we perceive as having "things" we may not. Longing for the intangibles, we forget about how, who and what we are, were or will be withOUT those "things".

In birth, we are given but one thing ... breath of life. In death, it is taken away.

Living would be so simple, if there were less focus on acquiring "things" we do not need.

Why do we destroy each other for "things" when the ONE and only thing that matters is living?

Relatively Thinking

Every time

I start to dwell in,

on the heaviness of things

I remember

how tiny

and insignificant

trivial matters are

When we look beyond

our small range of vision

Thinking

how bold and powerful we are

In the grand scheme of things

It's all just energy

Negative -

Or

Positive +

However you choose

to fuel your inner-G

Is where you dwell

This universe is too big

This blue, green marble we're on

is just a speck of dust

in creation

All there is

And ever will be

Just is

And it's all

Relative

#perspective

A famous person once said,

"What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen."

(This quote can be attributed to Henry David Thoreau or Ralph Waldo Emerson. I'll let the scholars decide.)

Father's Day 2014

My youth were raised in a single parent household ...

I am a woman, a mother, the nurturer, the gentle touch, the soft spoken voice of reason. Sure, I've been the disciplinarian, the breadwinner, the household repair person, the lawn care provider and many other roles that may have at one time been gender assigned. But one thing I am not, is a man. I will never be a father. I didn't teach my sons to stand up and pee, I couldn't possibly understand what it's like to be a he. I haven't taught them how to shave and I learned to tie a tie by practice. I will not ever be as strong as a man nor will I pretend that I can. Sure, I may wear pants, but with a feminine stance. I am only one half, the X, he provides the Y and determines the sex. It takes us two to create a youth and when the one day comes around a year, I'm going to give him his just due. I'll not take this time to steal his shine. I'll not add a tag to pin to his coat. I'll not take away his masculine energy. I will promote him and acknowledge those men that do. They fill the role that their supposed to. He cares for his seed and teaches them the way.  I give him all his props this and every other Father's Day!!!

Wishing all the fathers and father figures out there taking care of, providing proper guidance to and raising their youth (or taking on the responsibility for another man) a Very Happy Father's Day. Bless⬆

12/30 - Why The Wind?

from napowrimo.net Day 12 of National Poetry Month, write a 'replacement' poem in which you choose a noun and an intangible item.

Noun = music
Intangible = (the) wind

I found this article about music at The Economist (http://www.economist.com/node/12795510)

Why The Wind?

If the WIND be the food of love, play on, give me excess of it.

And if not? Well, what exactly is it for?

WIND is a big part of the economy.

Bring the WIND to the living rooms and picnic tables.

Today, people are so surrounded by other people's WIND that they take it for granted.

Other appetites, too, have been sated even to excess by the WIND.

What appetite drives the proliferation of the WIND to the point where the average American teenager spends 1½-2½ hours a day—an eighth of his waking life—listening to it?"

An idea that is widely touted is that the WIND binds groups of people together.

The WIND is a cross between an accident and an invention.

"It is an accident because it is the consequence of abilities that evolved for other purposes. And it is an invention because, having thus come into existence, people have bent it to their will and made something they like from it."
