Everything & Nothing 

I skipped a couple of days

Had to get my thoughts together

So much going on in the world

Hard to just keep track of the weather

I reminisce with bliss of days in the past

That seemed lighter, less chaotic

Didn't have to constantly fact check cos peeps were being real

Now down is up left is right and the sky is purple

There's a silver lining in all this

Once the masses have truly tapped in

They'll realize it was all a dream

There's nothing new under this sun

Until we all sleep and awake to none

Times, they are a 'changin
Winds are blowin' in all directions
Cross-section, interchanging alignments
Frequencies pitched higher
Are you tuned in
Or are you turned off
There is no synching
When the time has been rearranged
Keep holding on to the past
Ways of thinkin'
You'll blink twice
Then find you're sinking
Rush to the surface for air
Only to find it's stale
It's acrid, full of hate, fear and confusion
It's not an illusion
It's fate
It's the head of a snake
Backed into a corner
Only way out
Retaliate
Attack the attacker
Bite the provoker
Release the venom
Held back in wait
The only fear
To fear itself
Is hate

Monarch's Wings

Monarch’s Wings 

i saw a butterfly today
on it's wings did i imagine
that i too could fly away
soar through the trees sway
and in the air's breeze
float gently, gently away             

                                           
as i watched it's colors
orange, black and yellow
i saw the dreams of my people
it was vivid and bright
i felt a sensation of immense
delight
seeing the day that we
take flight
reaching new 
boundless
heights

i know that the butterfly
was only passing by
it was a monarch i think
just coming into be
something new from it's cocoon           
you see
                                                                                                           

it did not know the giddy
feeling that it did provide
to my insides
for an instant
i felt like a child
watching that butterfly fly
enjoying the nature
of the Most High

it's not often that
such a marvel
comes so near
it would not leave
as if there was something
more it had to reveal
i saw a butterfly today
